My Monday is a Sunday

Well, Independence Day has come and gone for another year and the statistics say that about 6000 people suffered injuries due to errors in handling fireworks that maimed and removed limbs and digits. Wow, 6000 people lost hands and fingers, and one person is reported to have lost his entire arm from the shoulder. Is it worth it? People do some of the most stupid stuff time and time again, but why? Is alcohol involved in most cases or ignorance? I would be interested in some sort of data on this subject. Maybe a database with some stories could be useful.

I know my kids and wife took extra special precautions when lighting the simple fireworks bought at Walmart, but, the gentlemen in NY had commercial strength fireworks and I, for one, wonder who risks so much for something so temporary. Think people! Think people!
